Research
Prof. Kevin Zhou’s research interests include capabilities and innovation, trust and relational ties, and strategic issues in emerging markets and China. He is the PI of Theme-based Research Fund “Enhancing Digitalization for Innovation and Social Development” supported by HKUBS SZRI. He has published numerous papers in top-tier journals such as Administrative Science Quarterly, Strategic Management Journal, Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Marketing, Journal of International Business Studies, Organization Science, and among others.
Mr. Joseph Chan’s current research focuses mainly on cross-disciplinary innovation & entrepreneurship strategy, design thinking, smart cities, distributed computing and application. His projects on innovation and training programmes were developed and implemented in Europe, Middle-East, South-East Asia, Hong Kong and Mainland in China. Joseph’s students have been receiving local and international innovation award. He has been awarded Best Design Educator Award in 2016 by Hong Kong Designers Association. Joseph has published case analysis on design thinking, as well as poverty alleviation and rural revitalization innovation case research series.
Prof. Junhong Chu is an empirical marketing modeler. She works on big data and conducts quantitative research in structural new empirical industrial organization (NEIO). Her research interests include platform business models and the sharing economy, e-commerce, social media, P2P markets, retail competition, and networking. Her research has appeared in top marketing and management journals including Marketing Science, Management Science, Journal of Marketing Research, and Journal of Marketing, as well as in general science journals such as Proceedings of the National Academy of Science (PNAS) and Nature Human Behaviour. She is on the editorial board of Marketing Science and Journal of Interactive Marketing. She was a 2011 MSI (Marketing Science Institute) Young Scholar and won several other research awards. She has been the PI or Co-PI of over 20 projects, including Social Science Research Council (Singapore), China Education Commission, Social Science Foundation of China, and UNFPA.
Prof. Yanbo Wang conducts research on technology-based entrepreneurship, with a particular focus on the impact of institutions on start-up firms’ strategic choices, organizational forms and financial performance. His current projects map the entrepreneurial landscape in China and examine the design and effect of the country’s state innovation subsidy programs. Yanbo has published in peer-reviewed academic journals such as Science, Management Science, Research Policy, Strategic Management Journal and Administrative Science Quarterly. He serves as a senior editor at Organization Science and on the editorial board of Administrative Science Quarterly and Strategic Management Journal.
Dr. Lian Zhang, born in October 1969, is the founder and chairman of Sincerity International Group, a representative of People’s Congress of Nansha District in Guangzhou, and one of the top ten leaders in China’s motorcycle industry over the past 40 years. He graduated from Southwest University of Science and Technology with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical manufacturing, obtained a master’s degree in business administration from Guanghua School of Management of Peking University in 2014, and obtained his Doctor in Business Administration from The University of Hong Kong in 2022. He used to be a technician in the technical department of China Jialing Motorcycle Industry Co.,Ltd., and a supporting department minister of Panyu Haojian Motorcycle Industry Co.,Ltd., and founded Sincerity Group in 2003.
